Highlights include Spoonbill, Goldeneye and Chiffchaff

British Steel Hide

A good variety of birds have been visible over the saline lagoons, including Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Lapwing, 105 Wigeon, Little Egret, Greylag and Canada Goose. Also on Friday last week we had 5 Spoonbill on the lagoons which is a record for the centre! Seen on the Dafen scrapes have been numerous ducks, a small group of Black-tailed Godwit and a Red Kite.


Millennium Wetlands

Good numbers of ducks have been spotted across the wetlands recently, on deep water lake there have been 20 Pochard, Shoveler, Wigeon, Shelduck, Tufted Duck, Teal, Gadwall and Mallard. Redshank and Black-tailed Godwits have also been seen in small groups, and there are good numbers of Lapwing displaying on the cockle islands on deep water lake, Grey Heron, Little Grebe, Cormorant, a female Goldeneye on the Lilly Pond and Sparrowhawk. Plenty of other birds to be seen across the reserve such as Chiffchaff, Cetti's Warbler, Redwing, Song Thrush, Long-tailed Tit, Reed Bunting, Green Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
