Recent sightings 31st July - 2nd August
Highlights include, Kingfisher, Goshawk and Peacock butterfly
Large groups of waders where seen at high tide today including 127 curlew, 111 black-tailed godwit and 4 knot and 2 dunlin. 65 lapwing including 29 juveniles have been seen regularly on the Dafen scrapes. Two spoonbill have returned to feed on the saline lagoons as well as 35 little egret. Two female garganey have been seen regularly from the Goodalls hide.
Millennium Wetlands
New kingfishers perches have been put out in front of the Peter Scott hide which has encouraged them to spend time in front of the hide fishing. Little grebe families have started to show up around the reserve. Teal and shoveler numbers have started to increase in number around the reserve. Large groups of black-tailed godwit continue to show well in the afternoons from the Herons wing hide. Goshawk was seen hunting near vole city on Thursday. Goldcrests and treecreeper have been heard singing on the northern loop.
A wide variety of butterfly's have been seen around the reserve including, peacock, red admiral, painted lady, gatekeepers and meadow brown.
