Saline and Freshwater Lagoon
The wood sandpiper has been spotted on the dafen scrapes a few times again this week. In addition, a good number of lapwing, including a few juveniles, have been on the scrapes. Finally, the barnacle geese have moved to the dafen scrapes too. Two green and two common sandpipers have been seen on the freshwater lagoon along with rising numbers of teal.
Millennium Wetlands
A garden warbler was on site this week, probably passing through on autumn migration. The great crested grebe chicks can be seen on deep water lake each day, along with good numbers of teal, shoveler and two wigeon. A lovely small copper butterfly was out on the marsh, and a few painted ladies have been seen around the reserve, so hopefully we start seeing a few more of those around.
