Recent Sightings 7th-13th August
Highlights - Wood Sandpiper, Shoveler, Red Kite, Kingfisher and Small Copper
A Wood Sandpiper was the species highlight of the week on the reserve. It was first spotted late in the day on the 11th on Deep water Lake, and was re-sighted several times on the lagoon on the 12th.
Numbers of Shoveler and Teal increased on site this week, most can be seen on Deep water lake, but good numbers also present on the Lagoon and Dafen Scrapes.
The Kingfishers are still showing well from the Sir Peter Scott hide and are regularly fishing in front of the hide.
Families of Linnet can be seen on the reserve, sometimes feeding on thistles alongside flocks of Goldfinch. A Red Kite was also seen over the reserve.
Other species on the reserve this week include a Small Copper and several Southern hawkers on the Millennium wetlands.
