Recent sightings 8th - 11th June

Highlights include Red-necked Phalarope, Roseate Tern, and Little Ringed Plover

British Steel Hide

On Sunday visible from the British Steel Hide was a Red-necked Phalarope, and a Roseate Tern which is a first for the site! The 4 Spoonbill continue to been seen feeding on the saline lagoons, as well as Little Egret, Shelduck, and 14 recently fledged Lapwing we believe to have come from the Millennium Wetlands. On the Dafen scrapes the pair of Little Ringed Plover are still present and keeping busy feeding, also seen include Lapwing, Tufted Duck, Gadwall, Shelduck and a Mediterranean Gull.


Millennium Wetlands

Black-tailed Godwits continue to be seen on deep water lake from the heron's wing hide and screens on centre path, also spotted include up to 8 Pochard with 2 Ducklings, Tufted Duck, Shelduck, Gadwall, Lapwing, Cormorant and Little Grebe. Buzzard, Red Kite and Sparrowhawk have been seen hunting over the wetlands recently. Other birds seen include Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Willow Warbler, Cetti's Warbler, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Reed Bunting, Long-tailed Tit, Goldfinch and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
