Reptiles undercover!

Saturday 19 – Sunday 20 February

Get half term off to a wild start by uncovering the secret world of reptiles at WWT London Wetland Centre. All weekend there will be snakes, hissing cockroaches, giant millipedes, turtles, lizards and many more for you to meet - and some you can even hold - so that you can learn more about these distant cousins of the reptiles that live at London Wetland Centre. What's more, the display is indoors so you can enjoy your day out even if it's raining!

Far from being scary monsters these shy animals often hide away so this is a fantastic opportunity for you to see them up close. You can learn more about their behaviour and habitats and why it is important we protect the ecosystems they live in so that they can survive.

The big stars of the indoor show will be making a special appearance on Sunday 20 February... Go along to Crocodile Encounters, where you'll be able to meet a crocodile and an alligator. Find out about the amazing world of crocodiles and alligators, their behaviour, how they've evolved and adapted and why many are now under threat.

London Wetland Centre’s ecologist Richard Bullock said “This is a great chance to learn about these amazing animals. Our own wild reptiles at the Centre, such as snakes, slow worms and lizards, will start emerging as the weather gets warmer – although we spotted a very early slow worm out and about in January!”

Crocodile Encounters shows are on Sunday only. Limited timed tickets will be available on the day. These are free - although normal entrance charges to the Centre apply.
