Reserve Update Saturday 6th October - Marsh Harrier
Sighting of the day so far was a female Marsh Harrier hunting along the eastern Merses. The Otter was back on Whooper Pond first thing, although Whooper Swan numbers have dropped off again. There were forty Whooper Swans that joined us for the 11am Swan feed yesterday morning so hopefully some more might pop back in again. There is a drake Pintail coming out of eclipse moult on Flood Ground along with snoozing Redshank. Good numbers of Barnacle Geese in the fields with best views to be had from Silver and Gold hide. Lovely flights across from the Pink-footed Geese leaving their roost on the mudflats and flying in land to feed.
Named Whooper Swan arrivals:
YHS - Solway Siren
Lost Darvic - Hagar
YJL - Linda H
YSJ - Sheldon Whooper
Today's high tide is at 11:00, 8.6m
