Reserve Update Thursday 18th October - Redwing
Wigeon are moulting back into their breeding plumage with the males looking stunning with their yellow head stripe back. We keep scanning through the flocks in case the recent storms have blown in any American visitors to join them and the Teal, but none so far seen. The Great Egret was observed out on the Merses yesterday. Small bird activity has been good with reports of brambling and Bullfinch in the Peter Scott Trail. There were also lovely sightings of Treecreeper down the Avenue first thing. Small flock of six Redwing were also seen. Best views of Barnacle Geese are currently from the Newfield Hide today, although the creeping sea mist is not going to help that.....
