Reserve Update Thursday 3rd May

Lovely to hear a Grasshopper Warbler 'singing' over the banking from Teal Pond Hide entrance this morning.  There is quite a chorus building with Willow Warblers, Sedge Warblers, Blackcap and Goldfinch all making their presence known in that one area.  It is interesting that we still have a reasonable number of our Barnacle Geese sticking around who are giving an interesting counterpoint to these sounds of Spring.....the cutting wind does make it still seem a bit like winter though!  The primrose banking down the Avenue is looking spectacular and anyone visiting should take a moment to admire.  Brown Hare sightings are creeping up with one observed sprinting across the meadow behind Teal Pond.  Good numbers of Black-tailed Godwit on Folly Pond this morning with close views afforded from the Scottish Water hide.

Today's high tide is at 15:14, 8.9m.

Barnacle Geese: around 3,000
