Sanderling

Sanderling moulting into breeding plumage on Woodend Marsh this morning, viewed from the banking. At least one tundra race Ringed Plover there too. Sixty eight Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Redshank, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 8+ Avocet, Oystercatcher and Lapwing all on Woodend.

On the Mere 30+ Avocet, 4 Little Ringed Plover, 20+ Gadwall. 2 Wigeon, Pintail and 200+ Black-headed Gull.

A female Pochard on the Reed Bed has 6 duckling currently.

Oystercatcher chicks from Ron Barker have moved across to Vinson’s islands with their parents (pic by Maria Scullion), they are 22 days old now so they have roughly 2 more weeks until they fledge.
