Sandpiper Trio

No, not the mid sixties folk/rock singing band but the classic Wood, Green, Common Sandpiper mix that generally inhabits the same page of a good field guide on british birds. All three were present today and showing from the Ron Barker Hide.

A slighly grainy Wood Sandpiper this morning.

Currently spectacular numbers of Black-tailed Godwit with 800+ present and occasionally being flushed by raptors into a full air display. Other waders present included 300+ Lapwing, 15+ Ruff, 6 Oystercatcher, 5+ Snipe, 3 Dunlin and 2 Little Ringed Plover.

Two owl species today with Tawny Owls being seen from the Kingfisher Hide and by the Canoe Safari. Barn Owl seen on the Reed Bed Walk early on.

Raptors included Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, 3+ Buzzard, 5+ Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.
