Plenty of activity around the reserve. One advantage of this cooler and cloudy summer (yes there is one!) is good visibilty into the distance, especially after some rain. Counts of wildfowl included 30 adult and 86 juvenile Common Shelduck, 90 Teal (on the increase), 10 Shoveler, and 5 Pochard.

Wader counts included 350 Black-tailed Godwit, 200+ Lapwing, 11 adult and 8 juvenile Avocet, 18 Oystercatcher, 2 Ringed Plover, Redshank with 3 juvenile, 4 Ruff (3 male, 1 female), Green Sandpiper and Common Sandpiper.

Raptors; 4 Common Buzzard, 2 Marsh Harrier, 2 Kestrel, male and female Sparrowhawk.

Rarest sighting goes to Nuthatch, with two see opposite the Gladstone Hide early afternoon. The Nature Trail also held Treecreeper (2 adult + 3 juv), Blackcaps and Chiffchaff (adult+ 3 juv).

Other reports included 4 Little Grebe (+ a chick), 84 Coot and 60 Stock Dove.
