Sightings

Another excellent couple of days, yesterday a Crake specie was reported from United Utilities Hide, no sign today but it could well reappear, here's hoping! Also yesterday a Curlew Sandpiper was seen but no reports today.

The highlights today included the reappearance of the ad/1st summer Pectoral Sandpiper from a few days ago, the bird showed well mid morning from Ron Barker Hide through until early evening. Also the 3 juvenile Little Stints are still present as well as 2+ Dunlin, 25+ Ruff, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 70+ Snipe, 2 Golden Plover, 800+ Lapwing including a smart leucistic individual.

Another new bird was a Greenland White-fronted Goose that was found late afternoon among the 4000+ Pink-footed Geese that were using the reserve throughout the day. Also seen today was the eclipse male Garganey among 1400 Teal.

A Water Rail was occasionally seen on the right hand side of Sunley's Marsh from Ron Barker Hide where the Kingfishers are still being seen.

At least 2 Marsh Harrier, several Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk were noted today.

Two Grey Wagtail were feeding on the new workings in the collection near Janet Kear this afternoon.
