In order to achieve the badge of approval, Slimbridge were required to meet a number of quality indicators and commit to maintaining a high standard of effective learning experiences, outside where possible. We proved our ability to evolve classes and programmes to meet learner needs and provide a safe environment for children and adults.

Sue Belej, WWT Slimbridge Learning & Engagement Manager said:

We’re delighted to have received this award once again for our education provision. We pride ourselves on delivering hands-on discovery sessions covering habitat, species and conservation themes, both guided and self-guided for a wide range of ages and abilities. Based on feedback received, 100% of visiting teachers would recommend a trip to Slimbridge Wetland Centre. We look forward to welcoming more groups to Slimbridge under the LOTC Quality Badge.

In 2021 WWT launched Generation Wild, a new nature-connection project for schools and families from disadvantaged areas. Current qualifying criteria for schools to take part - free of charge, is 25% of pupils being eligible for free school meals. This includes a free visit (with transport included) to Slimbridge Wetland Centre, places are limited.
