Snipe on show

Another lovely start to the day with sunshine and very little wind.  The copse in front of the Holden Tower once again produced a nice selection of warblers including Lesser Whitethroat, Whitethroat, Reed Warbler, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler along with a juvenile Bullfinch and several Linnet.  There was no sign of yesterday's Marsh Tit.  It has been a great morning for Snipe with 16 showing well from the Hogarth Hide alone.  Cetti's Warblers have also been very vocal today across the reserve.

Holden Tower

A nice selection of warblers in the copse in front of the tower including Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Reed Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat and Whitethroat.  A few Linnet dropped in and a juvenile Bullfinch was seen.  The water in the Dumbles scrape attracted 5 Yellow Wagtails to bathe.  A Buzzard was sat out on a fence post near the river.  A Cetti's Warbler was singing from the reedbed in front of the Knott Hide.

Zeiss Hide

Rather quiet for waders with just 10 Lapwing on show.  Around 150 Teal are now on the scrape with a small number of Shoveler and Gadwall.  Three Cetti's Warblers could be heard from the reedbed in front of the hide and the nearby South Finger reedbed.
