Rushy Hide

Two juvenile Little-ringed Plover, 8+ Green Sandpiper, 1 Redshank, 2 Ruff (adult and juvenile), 5 Avocet, 12 Lapwing, 3 Snipe, 20 Teal and 10 Gadwall.

Tack Piece

40 Black-tailed Godwit, 20 Teal and a Green Sandpiper.

Holden Tower

Two Lesser Whitethroat, two Blackcap, Peregrine and at least 7 Curlew on the Dumbles. Two Wheatear were on the dry scrape. 100s of hirundines were feeding over the grass.

New seawall viewing point

The Short-eared Owl was seen over the Dumbles this morning.

Top New Piece/Zeiss Hide

A fine juvenile Spotted Redshank dropped in this morning, it moved to South Lake later. 8 Avocet, 7 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Redshank and 100 Dunlin (over the tide). Teal and Shoveler were present in numbers. The Marsh Harrier paid a visit this morning at 0830.

Bottom New Piece

The Crane family (Oakie and Sherbert + one juvenile) seem to be doing very well here, they can be picked out among the Longhorn cattle in the rushes. Some dabbling duck and waders are 'hedge-hopping' between here and the Top New Piece. The Barnacle Goose flock favoured this field for grazing today.

South Lake

Two juvenile Little-ringed Plover (possibly the Rushy birds), 127 Black-tailed Godwit, 22 Redshank, 18 Ruff (adult reeve and two juveniles, the rest are males). The Crane family (Bart and Ruby + 2 young) were busy during the day, the juveniles were practice flying the length of the scrape. A Kingfisher flashed past a few times.

Wild and Bore Safaris

Up to 7 Common Sandpiper, 2 Hobby, 2 Kestrel, Marsh Harrier as well as Grass Snakes seen today. A Spotted Flycatcher, a few Yellow Wagtails and a Whinchat were also of note.
