Spring is in the air.
Milder weather as sparked off more spring time singing from potential early migrant species, namely Chiffchaff and Blackcap. Four species of bumblebee now out and about, Buff tailed, Early, Red tailed and Tree.
Common toads are now spawning in the front pond and wetlands discovery.
Water vole signs are very encouraging, being seen in most of the usual places.
The usual early spring time butterflies have been on the wing on the sunny days recently with Brimstone and Peacock the commonest.
Added to the usual Coltsfoot flowers are now are Marsh Marigold, Red dead nettle, Lesser celandine and Daisy.
I have seen several nests of Long tailed tits around the reserve. Probably the best time to see them before the bramble gets too thick.
