Still one egg and male takes his turn to sit
This morning our male osprey brought in a fish for his mate and she took off to eat it on her favourite perch nearby the nest. When she took off we could see the single egg in the nest cup. He then settled down in the to incubate the egg for the next 20 minutes before flying off to let her back on the nest, not before pinching the remains of the fish to finish off himself. The normal clutch size is 3 eggs for ospreys and there is usually at least two days between each one being laid so we expect a second egg any time now. It looks like our yellow ringed male has taken his place with our female and driven off the unringed suitor from last week. Still no sign of regular male AW, will he yet return and find his mate already on eggs?
