Stonechat sighting
Many thanks to Natalie Cairns for sending us these fantastic stonechat photos, taken when she hot-footed it after our reserve warden Adam as he ran past with his binoculars on the twitch for a reported whinchat at East Down (Sunday 8 March).
A whinchat it was not, but the stonechat is still a very irregular visitor to WWT Washington, with only a handful of confirmed sightings in the last 20 years. Blimmin' marvellous.
Factoid time - the stonechat is so named because its call resembles two stones being tapped together!
