Rushy Hide
The four Bewick's Swans remained for the morning and returned for the afternoon period, they fly out to the Tack Piece for the middle part of the day. A Little Stint was again on the top pond island.
Tack Piece
A new family of E. White-fronted Geese arrived today, adults with three juveniles. 280 Lapwing, 50+ Curlew and 400 Teal were also present, up to three Buzzard were fighting over a morsel this morning.
Holden Tower
Reed Buntings and Blackbirds in the scrub and hedge, 5+ Meadow Pipit, 2 Skylark and Pied Wagtails in the scrape (on the compost). A flock of 100+ Wigeon were also in the scrape this morning with a Little Stint and Lapwing. Three Cranes fed all afternoon and 52 Great Black-backed Gulls were on the Dumbles over high tide.
Long Ground Pool
Three male and one female Mandarin in the willows.
South Lake
Black-tailed Godwits, Lapwing, Dunlin and a few Redshank were on the scrape with 40 Shoveler and a number of Teal. A cHiffchaff was seen and heard in the willows
Zeiss Hide
Over high tide a rather nervous gathering of waders roosted on the flood shore. 400 Lapwing, 300 Golden Plover, 30+ Snipe (in the rushy areas), 7+ Ruff, 450 Dunlin, Little Stint, 70 Black-tailed Godwits, 800+ Wigeon and 400 Teal also fed or roosted.
Kingfisher Hide
The Red-breasted Goose was seen for a time with the Barnacle Geese, 19 Curlew and 16 E. White-fronted Geese fed on the field. Flocks of waders were on the flood. A Kingfisher was seen here today.
Visitor Centre/grounds
Kingfisher seen on the rhine by the entrance ramp and singles of Siskins and Redpoll see and heard flying about over the grounds during the day, 4 Mistle Thrush and flocks of Redwing also passed over. Goldcrests were seen in many locations.
Decoy/Canoe Trail
At least 5 Chiffchaff, two of which appear to be abietinus.
