Sunday's Sightings

'Bird of the day' has to go to this Whooper Swan that flew in late afternoon. We can only guess it's story but it must be interesting...

Common Sandpiper on the Mere, another returning 'autumn' bird. Little Ringed Plover on the Mere, Avocet with chicks there too. Green Sandpiper on Woodend, 2 Ringed Plover and 2 Little Ringed Plover there.

At least 50 Black-tailed Godwit on Woodend Marsh/Sunley's.

Pair of adult Med Gull on the Mere.

Female Marsh Harrier again this morning. The same bird with a dropping leg and wing damage has been present for a couple of months. Also a second marked bird.

A 40+ flock of Gadwall flying around today. Good to see some small numbers of Starling coming back onto the reserve post breeding.

Three pair of Common Tern, one pair with two nearly fledged young. (featured image)
