Sunny Sunday (at last)

Lots of birds looking great in the sunshine

Rushy

Bewicks 72 overnight now moving into the Tack Piece. Pintail 50 and Pochard 86, a couple of Snipe on the left bank.

Zeiss Hide

Probably the best spot today. The field is full of Lapwing (620), Dunlin 37 a flock of 200 Blackwit were probably part of the 300 flock on the South Lake. There were 343 Wigeon and 980 Teal all looking great in the sunshine.
a further 270 Teal, 470 Lapwing, 350 Dunlin and a big flock of Barnacle Geese were on the Bottom New Piece (best viewed from the Kingfisher Hide).

Estuary Tower and Tack piece

The 8 Pinfeet were showing well and a couple of cranes were feeding on the Dumbles, a large flock of Wigeon were on the estuary with 27 Pintail among them. Bewicks are building in the tack Piece and the Whitefront flock (69) were here briefly including at least one Greenland before moving to the north. The Redshank (60) and Ruff (22) flock are great from the Robbie Garnett with 38 Shoveler there as well. The very mobile wader flock has been increasing steadily through the morning with at least 1200 Lapwing, 800 Golden Plover and 350 Dunlin but just a handful of Curlews. As ever the three water Rails were very showy at the Willow Hide and up to 6 close Snipe thrilling everyone in the Martin Smith.

South Lake.

Two Egyptian Geese were here perched in a tall tree, 300 Blackwit that started moving to the Zeiss Hide area. There were 190 Lapwing a scattering of Snipe, still 76 Shoveler and coincidentally 76 Pochard.
