Teal Displaying
The recent mild spell has confused the visiting Teal around the Reserve with many behaving like it is already Spring. There is a great deal of displaying going on, with the males doing the characteristic head flick (interesting to watch for, not just when visiting Caerlaverock but also if you have any Teal around your local patch). It is not the only unusual occurrence, with Pipistrelle Bats observed foraging down the Avenue when Wardens have been going around doing the closing up routine and plants such as Herb Robert, Red Campion and White Deadnettle still blooming. More regular for this time of year is the first sighting of a feeding Otter on the Whooper Pond this morning.
