The AGM

It has been the WWT AGM at Martin Mere today and we welcomed the Council members, Directors, staff and a large number of WWT members to the event.

Last night we had the opportunity to go and have a meal with the Council members at Briars Hall and it was a great evening, giving us all the opportunity to get to know them on a sociable level - they have had such amazing careers and it was fantastic to hear how passionate they are about WWT.

The AGM itself has gone really well. It started at 10am this morning with the AGM and a great talk about our conservation work with the spoon-billed sandpiper. We had a lovely lunch and then a number of talks in the afternoon. The sun was shining and the wind seems to have disappeared so it was a vary good day and I would like to thank everyone that was involved for their time and help.

I would like to say that it is time to relax now but tomorrow we have a meeting at Brockholes in Preston as it is the Lancashire Environmental Fund annual meeting. We have been lucky to receive a lot of funding from LEF so we do enjoy going along to this event. We find out all about the fund for the next year, some awards are presented and there is a talk by Ben Osbourne that I am really looking forward to as well because we are hoping to have a talk with Ben at Martin Mere some time next year.

On Monday I will put up a profile about our new chef that started this week and he can tell you all about his background and what he is looking to do at the Centre.
