Hideout with the experts to experience winter wildlife this February half term at Slimbridge.
Families can discover the UK’s greatest winter wildlife like never before this February half term by joining The Big Hideout between Saturday 11 – Sunday 26 February.
The bird hides have become hideouts, filled with bird spotting activities, migration games and binocular crafting - for all the family to enjoy. Experts on wetland nature will be on hand to help visitors discover many of the birds that flock to the centre from around the world in the colder months.
Families will be able to borrow binoculars and telescopes to see wildlife up close from the comfort of a bird hide from Saturday 11 – Sunday 26 February. Activities include warming up with a hot chocolate and creating Bewick’s swans bill patterns, each day 1.30-3.30pm as well as identifying birds all around the site with special bird spotter sheets. Volunteers will be on hand to help!
As well as The Big Hideout there’s lots of other wild and wonderful activities for the whole family to discover this winter such as the new Nature’s Patterns activity sheets, exploring the site through our family-friendly app ‘Wetland Heroes’, and going along to one of our daily talks on marvellous mammals and awesome amphibians. The newly developed Welly Boot Land will also be opening this February, so there is something for all the family to enjoy.
Families can share their adventures by using #WWTBigHideOut to show off their best photos and experiences.
