The Sounds of Birdsong to Lift Your Mood
The sounds of the warblers singing is very impressive following an influx over the last couple of weeks. On the reserve we now have chiff chaff, willow warbler, sedge warbler, blackcap, whitethroat and grasshopper warbler. Grasshopper warbler aren't common at Caerlaverock so it nice to see one showing off as well as this one. We have had a few passage migrants coming through including greenshank, common sandpiper and a stunning male garganey. The barnacle geese have been hanging on well with over 4000 being seen on the reserve this week whether it is the northerly winds keeping them in Scotland? and a female mallard has been photographed with 23 ducklings!
