Thursday update

Kingfisher Hide

Very busy with birds, 4 Bewick's Swans, 40+ E. White-fronted Geese, 200 Golden Plover, 22 Ruff + flocks of Lapwing, Dunlin and Wigeon.

Zeiss Hide

750+ Teal, 400 Wigeon and 8 Snipe among the birds present on the flood and flashes. A Water Rail was in the reeds below.

South Lake

The Little Stint was on feeding on the causeway, 10 Black-tailed Godwit were on the scrape with Dunlin and Lapwing flocks.

Rushy Pen

Two Little Stints fed on the islands among 1500 wildfowl.

Tack Piece

We've finally managed to create some shallow flooding in the centre of the field through pumping. 43 Curlew, 21 Redshank, 2 Ruff, 200 Dunlin and 250 Lapwing were accompanied by 10 Bewick's Swans and 850 Wigeon. A Peregrine settled in the oaks and 2 Buzzard were also seen on the hedges.

Willow Hide

Three Water Rail seen in the vicinity and on show at the same time.
