Thursday's sightings

A nice mix of waders continue with most of them on the South Lake this morning including the juvenile Spotted Redshank and Wood Sandpiper.  An Osprey also drifted south over the centre.

South Lake Hides

The Wood Sandpiper started the day on the Tack Piece but moved mid-morning to the South Lake and could be seen feeding along the shoreline towards the Hogarth Hide.  The juvenile Spotted Redshank was roosting amongst the Lapwing, Redshank and Black-tailed Godwit and takes a carefully eye to pick out the dusty plumage whilst the bird is tucked up asleep.  Also on the scrape were 158 Black-tailed Godwit (including 18 juveniles), a juvenile Little-ringed Plover, single adult Dunlin, 13 adult Ruff and 20 Redshank.  The Great Crested Grebe chick is now fishing independently on the deep lake.
