Today's Highlights

Woodcock - 1 flew from reebeds next to the car park over to the reserve

The main lagoon has a large flock of black-tailed godwits on the islands providing fantastic views everytime they take to the sky.  There are providing fantastic photographic opportunities and giving visitors the chances to look for leg-ringed individuals.  There are also large flocks of wigeon and teal, a raft of pochard awaiting the feed at 3.30pm, smaller groups of shoveler, pintail and gadwall.

In the fields surrounding the visitor centre there are large flocks of golden plover which come onto the reserve near Friends hide when they are evading birds of prey.

Most of the swans are spending their day out in the fields, several large flocks can be seen from the visitor centre.  They are returnign to the reserve at dusk to roost on the water, with good numbers of whooper swans at the evening feeds.
