Holden Tower

The Golden Plover flock (1500+) also contained a greyish individual, one leucistic bird with white wing tips (only viewable in flight) and a single Grey Plover. Lapwing flocks of over 2500 are also present mostly on the Dumbles. The Dunlin flock was also feeding among the former, one Little Stint was seen around the pool edge near the hide. A flock of Wigeon were also on the same pool today.

7 GCP Cranes were feeding out on the saltmarsh or Tack Piece. These individuals were Squidgy, Cotton, Cookie, Oakie, Ruby, Bart and Sedge. Chris and Monty should also be nearby. Please do report any accurate colour ring information, we only need the three colours on the right leg, record the colours from top down.

Also on the saltmarsh- 190 Barnacle Geese, 200 Canada Geese and 60 Shelduck.

A Marsh Harrier was seen a few times hunting the fields to the North, most of the European White-fronted Geese were also in fields to the North but 3 were among the Greylag Geese on the Tack Piece. A dozen Redshank were among the Curlew and Black-tailed Godwits on the flood.

Most of the Bewick's Swan flock ended up on the Dumbles for the day.

Rushy Pen

Only c25 Bewick's Swans at the morning feed, the rest went out early. Pochard, Tufted Duck, Mallard and Shelduck all present in good numbers.

It was a restricted hide round today so no details available from other hides, sorry.
