Today's sightings

Rushy Pen

This morning a Mediterranean gull was seen here along with two common cranes and lots of avocets with their chicks. The hybrid wigeon is also still around so keep your eyes peeled.

Tack Piece

Seen from the Robbie Garnett Hide in total were three little egrets. There was also two lapwings and their three little chicks seen. Again more avocets are here, seven in total seen with three chicks also present.

Zeiss Hide

From the Zeiss Hide 48 shelducks were seen along with 26 tufted ducks and two avocets. There was also 12 lapwings and three common cranes. Among the reeds, both reed buntings and reed warblers were either seen or heard singing.

Kingfisher Hide

The kingfishers are still present and are continuing to feed young. A buzzard was seen overhead and lots of warblers, in particular cetti's and reed, and reed buntings again were either seen or heard singing.

South Lake

South lake is still the place to be at the moment, the crane pair are still incubating their eggs and can be clearly seen from the Hogarth hide. There was also 40 avocets, including a range of sizes of chicks, 20 shelducks and 90 black-tailed godwits. A pair of oystercatchers was also present, along with two bullfinches and a cetti's warbler being seen.
