Today's sightings

Zeiss Hide/Top New Piece

Female/immature Marsh Harrier, hunting bird went through the flood to Bottom New Piece this morning, a Hobby also visited as did a Peregrine. On the flood the Avocets were joined by 70 Lapwing, 4 Little-ringed Plover (1 adult, 3 juveniles), 40 Redshank (2 juveniles), 2 Black-tailed Godwit and a male Ruff in breeding plumage (black and ginger). 15+ Swifts, a few Sand Martin and broods of Gadwall, Shelduck and Tufted Duck. Reed Buntings are still singing and 10+ Pied Wagtail were on the flood mud.

Rushy Pen

Greenshank, 9+ Green Sandpiper, Redshank and a few Avocets among the highlights. The newly arrived male Ruff also visited.

Tack Piece

The Greenshank and three Green Sandpiper on and off today.

South Lake

Crane pair Bart and Ruby plus chick, 90+ Black-tailed Godwit, 30 Avocet and 10 Lapwing on the wader scrape. 70+ Gadwall, 80 Coot and smaller numbers of Tufted Duck and Mallard on deep lake with both Little and Great Crested Grebes.
