Today's sightings

Rushy Pen

One green sandpiper, one oystercatcher, two lapwing, five avocets plus a small chick and a little ringed plover. Swallows and house martins were also flying around.

Holden Tower and Tack Piece

From the Robbie Garnett hide there was one greenshank, six green sandpiper and three avocets. On the pool from the Knott Hide was one green sandpiper. From the Holden six curlew could be seen on the estuary and a peregrine. There were also barnacle geese present along with a combination of  reed buntings, skylarks, meadow pippets, blackcaps, house martins, sand martins and swallows.

Zeiss Hide

A variety of waders; 45 redshank, 35 avocet, five dunlin, 123 lapwing, two green sandpiper, three oystercatcher, two ruff. And a grey heron and lots of reed warblers around.

South Lake Hides

150 black-tailed godwits, 13 lapwing  and four avocets were present. There was also fleeting views of the kingfisher and the crane family showed well throughout the day. A male Pochard in eclipse plummage was also present.

Kingfisher Hide

A brief sighting of the kingfisher before it flew off along with a little grebe, a grey heron and one crane.
