Today's sightings

High tide around lunchtime produced an adult Kittiwake floating down river between the Dumbles shoreline and the island.  An adult Sanderling stopped off briefly before carrying on down river with a small flock of Dunlin and over 100 Curlew were roosting on the island and the Dumbles.

Zeiss Hide

A great selection of waders this morning but sadly no sign of the Pectoral Sandpiper.  The stunning Little Stint was still present however amongst the Dunlin flock which numbered 91 birds.  Also present were 107 Black-tailed Godwits, 3 Green Sandpiper, 10 Avocet, 24 Redshank, 38 Lapwing and 4 Ruff.  A Hobby was seen over the Dumbles first thing when it briefly perched on the fence line.  Three Cranes flew north over the Dumbles.  A female Shoveler has 8 ducklings on the Bottom New Piece scrape.

Rushy Hide

At least 4 Green Sandpiper were feeding on the lower pond along with 51 Black-tailed Godwit, a single Redshank and 7 Lapwing.  Two Cranes were in the long grass at the back of the upper pond.

Robbie Garnett Hide

A Greenshank and at least 6 Green Sandpiper were reported this morning.

Holden Tower

Several juvenile Yellow Wagtails were with the cattle this morning on the Dumbles.
