Wigeon 650
E. White-fronted Geese 80+ were very flightly this morning moving back and forth from canal fields to the Dumbles. They were clearly looking for the greenest grazing which is a little difficult in frosty conditions.

A lot of ice overage this morning but the waders were still roosting and waiting patiently for the thaw.

South Lake

The Obs is closed today for refurbishment. There will be intermittent weekday closures whilst contractors are on site. A noise reducing ceiling is being fitted at present with further improvements following. Hogarth Hide which overlooks the South end of the lake is still open.

The wader scrape was frozen today but a small number of Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Redshank and 1 Ruff were among the 200 Lapwing on the ice.

Zeiss Hide

Bittern was showing well out on the open from 0920-0945 at least. Last seen out in the field amongst the rush clumps and hunting voles.
