A successful dawn chorus on a glorious morning. all the regulars featured highlights
were a lot of BlackcapsCettis, Reed and Sedge Warblers and a brief burst from  a
Cuckoo.

Generally quiet around the hides, the main interest is with the breeding birds. Many
Mute Swans are hatching off and we hope lots of pairs of Shoveler will be converted to a
few broods this year.. The Lapwings are having a good season so far look out .for
broods from the Holden Tower, South lake and Kingfisher hide. At least 8 pairs of
Oystercatcher are breeding around the site with the first young on the South Lake.
A pair of Common Terns have returned to the South Lake and have spent all day fishing
here and through the collection giving great close up views. Very little sign of Kingfishers
having bred successfully yet so still only occasional sightings. Very handsome pairs of
both Great Crested and Little Grebes can be watched from several of the hides and the
first noisy families of Long Tailed Tits have begun to appear.

Watch out for Mediterranean Gulls among the flocks of Black Headed Gulls. Two first
winter birds have been seen again today from the Robbie Garnett Hide. A male
Garganey was seen from several hides yesterday but no signs as yet today.
