20+ chiffchaff, willow warbler, 2 blackcap and at least 5 cetti’s warbler were heard calling this morning and a great spotted woodpecker was heard ‘drumming’ on the black poplars in the millennium wetlands. At least 2 mediterranean gulls were amongst the black headed gull colony on the lagoon. Other sightings include 160 black tailed godwit, 55 knot, spotted redshank, 5 greenshank, 22 lapwing, 6 snipe, 11 little egret, 50 greylag goose, 66 shelduck, 12 wigeon, 63 gadwall, 3 teal, 140 mallard, 10 pochard, 64 tufted duck and 3 little grebe
Butterfly sightings include orange tip, speckled wood, small tortoiseshell, comma and brimstone.
