WANTED - trainee ‘otter spotters’ to help carry out vital survey work!

We're joining forces with our friends at Durham Wildlife Trust (DWT) to help turn enthusiastic volunteers into top nature detectives.

Staff from both organisations are running a one-day course here at WWT Washington on Saturday 28 February, showing people how to identify the key signs of otter activity and record them correctly.

Their newly-taught skills can then be put to use during DWT’s third annual Spring Otter Survey, which collates data to help experts monitor and track the return of otters to our watercourses.

The survey takes place on the weekend of 25 and 26 April and involves volunteers from across the DWT area.

To sign up for the WWT Washington training day (10am till 1pm, dress suitably for the weather), please contact Vivien Kent from DWT at vkent@durhamwt.co.uk
