Tree Sparrow Nesting
After the disappointment earlier in the summer when the nestbox down the Avenue we thought had Tree Sparrows in turned out to have Great Tits, we have now discovered this week that the Tree Sparrows have successfully raised a brood in another box up towards the Peter Scott Obs. There are still plenty of other young birds around, including a lovely clutch of Wrens down the Saltcot Loaning. The Common Sandpiper keeps dropping into the Folly Pond and River Walk. The Green Sandpiper was seen briefly again on the Folly Pond at the start of the week. Snipe can often be heard flying over or seen in the muddy fringes around the Folly Pond. Keep your eyes peeled as well as there was a potential sighting of a female Redstart down the Loaning.
