Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

A dawn count which included the Tack Piece found only 97 Bewick's Swans on site, have we seen the first return departures?

Estuary Tower

Ross's Goose with the Barnacle Goose flock on the Dumbles, three Snow Geese also present, 2 Peregrine Falcons on the posts and driftwood.

Long Ground Pool

The Glossy Ibis roosted with 8 Cattle and 4 Little Egrets.

South Lake

A Great Crested Grebe has returned to the deep lake, 30+ Pochard and 30+ Tufted Duck and a few Cormorants, 7 Avocet, 287 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Oystercatcher, 600 Lapwing, 6 Shoveler, 5 Wigeon, c70 Teal.

Top New Piece

Water Rail, 300 Wigeon, 8 Pintail, 90 Teal, 300 Lapwing, 5 Ruff.

Tack Piece

900 Golden Plover, 2 Little Stint with the Dunlin, 500 Lapwing, 18 Curlew, 12 Redshank, 400 Wigeon, 20 Pochard, 25 Tufted Duck, 43 Shoveler. Three Snow Geese roosted (now on the Dumbles), 115 Russian and three Greenland White-fronted Geese roosted but have been touring the reserve, flushed by the electricity helicopter and last seen in Stall House Ground NE of Tack Piece

Canoe Trail

Great Egret in the channels it or another seen flying N later.

Duck Decoy

Great Egret fishing the pool early morning

Grounds

A wild female Goldeneye with collection birds south side of Big Pen + Siskins and Redpolls with the Goldfinch flock.

Kingfisher Hide

Male Stonechat on Top New Piece this morning, using the reed tops as a lookout.
