South Lake
Great birding again from here, highlights include 2 Garganey among 120 Teal and a high count of 132 Shoveler. Among the waders 2 Curlew Sandpiper are probably best but also a great mix of ages and sex among 8 Ruff . There were 22 mostly sleeping Redshank but 1 noisy and active Greenshank among them. Only 132 Black Tailed Godwit and 3 Snipe scattered around the edges.
Zeiss Hide
Ducks are increasing here, Wigeon 37 and Teal 687 and an extra 7 Shoveler to add to the high count on the South Lake. There were 5 Ruff and a distant Green Sandpiper. Three Cranes were just visible on the Lower Dumbles.
Rushy
More beautiful Ruff here with 13 showing well (and moving across to Robbie Garnet) all of which were juveniles. Another 89 Teal and (so far ) 1 Snipe. A pair of Egyptian Geese were on the top pond.
Holden Tower and walkway hides.
Whinchat 2 in the Tack Piece with 50 Goldfinch, 2 Wheatears were seen distantly from the Holden on the northern cross fence of the Dumbles. Around 30 Sand Martin and 100 Swallows were feeding over the fields and 2 Blackcap and 4 Chiffchaff in the hedges.
