Two more yearling Bewick's Swans

South Lake

A few more Pochard present early morning, probably as a result due to the flush from the Rushy Pen yesterday. The Ferruginous x Tufted Duck? hybrid was with them. The wader scrape was much the same with 130 Dunlin, the Little Stint was still among them but also feeding on the islands at times. The Spotted Redshank had a few Redshank (3) and Black-tailed Godwits (30) for company. A handful of Snipe were seen in the Rushy areas.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

16 Bewick's Swan on the top lake, two of which were new yearlings, two more had gone missing. The Little Stint was on the muddy top pond island and over 1000 duck were present early morning.

Tack Piece

23 E. White-fronted Geese flew in and joined the Greylag and Canada Geese, 300 Wigeon, 200 Teal, 80 Lapwing and 40 Curlew were on the scrape and field.

Holden Tower

Two Cranes (Bart and Ruby), the Barnacle Goose flock with Red-breasted Goose and the usual Mistle Thrush guarding the mistletoe berries.

Long Ground Pool

The usual gathering of wildfowl with 5 (three drakes) Mandarin Ducks in the willows.

Zeiss Hide

A flock of 58 Pintail were on the flood, 600 Wigeon, 500 Teal, 500 Golden Plover, 700 Lapwing, 500 Dunlin, Little Stint (on the islands), 30 Snipe, 7 Ruff (33 seen midday yesterday), plus a female Pochard and a couple of Redshank.

Kingfisher Hide

Wader flocks commuted between the Bottom and Top New Piece, the 8 Greylag Geese remained in the field, often hidden behind the reeds. A Treecreeper and a few Goldcrests were in the trees along the pathway.
