Waders, Warblers, Wheatears & Wagtails - 24/04/2017
It's a nice sunny day again although the northerly wind sweeping across the reserve is adding a bit of a chill to the air.
Very good numbers of Willow Warbler and Blackcap are in song with a handful of Sedge Warbler. We still await the first Whitethroat but this should be any day now.
Wheatears and White Wagtails are constantly moving through and the avenue tower offers good views of both species.
The folly pond is looking really good for waders, with a nice rim of mud around the edge. Around 40 Black-tailed Godwit in stunning summer plumage have been feeding away on here, along with 30 Redshank and a single female Ruff this morning, the first one of the year.
