Water and Waders
Well it really has been a wet few days but the sun has now decided to shine. The waders are loving the wet fields with over 100 Lapwing and small numbers of Curlew utilising the fields looking out from Newfield hide first thing. These flocks are mobile and can often be observed flying overhead the Centre and down into the Corner and Lochar fields. Black-tailed Godwit and Redshank are present on one of the islands on Folly Pond. We had an unusual sighting of a female Goldeneye on Whooper Pond which dropped into site briefly and then took off again. It has also been somewhat of a mammal morning with a Brown Hare down the Saltcot Loaning and two Roe Deer in the meadow.
