Water levels back up after the rains

The water levels have returned to peak height following some very heavy rainfall but is of course providing the perfect conditions for feeding wildfowl and waders.

Estuary Tower

The juvenile Dark-bellied Brent Goose was on the Dumbles saltmarsh with the Barnacle and Canada Goose flock. The majority of the Golden Plover were here this afternoon along with Lapwing and Dunlin.

Tack Piece

Ruff, Redshank, Curlew, Lapwing, Golden Plover and Dunlin feeding in numbers with Wigeon Teal, Pintail and Shoveler on the floodwaters.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

At least one Whooper Swan remained all day with 115 Bewick's Swans counted at dawn.

Kingfisher Hide

The pair of Kingfisher continue to atttend the nest hole.

Top New Piece

Eight Avocet, 100+ Black-tailed Godwit, flocks of Teal and Wigeon.

South Lake

Work continues on the South side of the hide but many bird remained all day. Three Cattle Egret were present this morning and at least 5 Oystercatchers through the day.

General

At least three Lesser Redpoll and 19 Siskin in the car park trees plus Grey Wagtail and two Great Egret in the grounds.
