VisitEngland were highly impressed by staff and volunteers as well as the overall offer and presentation of our attraction; balancing a mix of education with entertainment. VisitEngland were also captivated by the new additions to Slimbridge including the Estuary Tower Hide, Arctic Adventure Experience and tour of Scott House Museum. They felt these new areas added very much to the appeal of repeat visits as well as delving into the heritage market, a new and welcome diversification.
Visitor Experience Manager Fran Penny explained, “We’re really pleased to have once again improved on our score from last year. The team work really hard to deliver a great day out to all our visitors and our latest score of 95% recognises their hard work. I’m really pleased that the assessor reviewed and enjoyed some of our newest attractions, including Scott House and the Estuary Tower.”
This visit was undertaken without a family and demonstrates that there is plenty to keep any visitor entertained and interested at Slimbridge whether you are interested in birds or not. The continuing developments of Slimbridge 2020 promise even more to enjoy next year including the opening of Mission Possible in May and the Living Wetland Theatre and Waterscapes Aviary opening in the summer. From family visitors to nature lovers, adult social groups and avid bird watchers, there’s something for everyone at Slimbridge!
