Weapons training and more at our Viking Village this summer!

WWT Martin Mere is opening its Mere Tun for a host of engaging Viking activities over the summer. Visitors can join in on Mondays and Tuesdays from 22 July until 27 August 2024.

Open from 12pm to 3pm, visitors can see the history of our ancestors by meeting friendly Viking villagers and exploring Mere Tun. Discover ancient wetland recipes, learn about material making, and see how roundhouses were constructed.

A member of staff at WWT Martin Mere is dressed as a Viking. They are stood in front of the Longhouse at Mere Tun.

Don’t miss the newly built Longhouse, where you can take a walk around and see a traditional Anglo-Saxon/Viking loom. Take a seat and have a go at weaving and felt-making yourself.

Visitors can also pick up a sword and shield and join the weapons training to help defend the village against invaders!

Mere Tun access is included with general admission (members enter free). Viking activities are available on Mondays and Tuesdays starting 22 July. Book your visit here.
