Wednesday's sightings

A great Autumn morning with calm, dry weather and a bit of sun poking through the haze.  The digger work will continue on the Top New Piece from the Zeiss Hide, although birds are still around once they get used to the machinery.

South Lake Hides

Birds on the scrape included 53 Black-tailed Godwit, 21 Redshank, a Greenshank, 7 Ruff, 79 Shoveler, 157 Lapwing, 8 Snipe, and 150 Teal.

Zeiss Hide

Despite the work there are 350+ Teal, 2 Cetti’s Warbler, 6 Wigeon, 2 Buzzard and 17 Ruff from the hide.

Holden Tower

Two Peregrines were sat out on the fence posts whilst on the Dumbles were 3 Cranes, 226 Barnacle Geese and 221 Greylag Geese.  At least 5 Blackcap and Song Thrush were gorging themselves on mistletoe around the Pillbox whilst a Mistle Thrush guarded the crop against a pair of Magpie.
