Wetlands and wildlife charity to drop debut album, ‘imMERSE’

In a move sure to set the music world quacking, WWT announces the launch of its highly anticipated debut album, ‘imMERSE’.

Teaming up with some of the biggest waders in the business, WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife, takes to its social media channels today, sharing a cryptic teaser video that’s left fans in a flocking frenzy.

The album teaser hints to the album’s marsh-infused melodies, blending Awre-inspiring lyricism and the staple swampy swagger that followers of WWT have come to expect.

We wanted to ruffle some feathers with this one,” WWT’s Director of Soundscapes, John Mallard, says. “There’s been a quack in the market for a wetland album like this one for quite some time. I really think we’ve created something truly unique, an organic sound, and a big part of that has come from collaborating with big lens boys, like Froggy Swimz and Bittern Boom.

We didn’t want to get too bogged down in production; this record is raw and honest. Titled ‘imMERSE’, this LP is inspired by the term ‘merse’, which is the marshy land where the river meets the sea. Merse is the word we use when talking about the saltmarsh at WWT Caerlaverock.

Our featured artists certainly don’t hide away from expressing those deep-rooted emotions, helping to create some certified BOPs.”

Murmuration had been swirling for weeks on when the album would drop, and John adds that it’s great to finally narrow the scope and give fans some clarity.

John continues: “We’ll admit, our updates on this album have been muddy at best, but that was entirely planned. For us, it was all about making a really big splash, so we had to throw people off the scent a bit. If I had to sum up this album for you, I’d say: it’s the bog beats you never knew you needed. It’s fen-tastic.”

For those of you who simply can’t wait to hear these banging bog beats, head over to WWT’s YouTube channel for some inspiration.

And don’t forget, you can hear all these tracks live, 24 hours a day, by heading down to a wetland near you. WWT has ten wetland centres across the UK, where you can immerse yourself in the sounds of the swamps.
