Wild Safaris

Two Wild Safaris went out today at the usual times of 1130am and 2pm, we logged 5 Hobby, 2 Marsh Harrier, a Kestrel, a Peregrine harrying a Curlew over the Severn, a Sparrowhawk and a Red Kite, Buzzards were heard in the tall trees.

A Great White Egret was seen on both as well as it's commoner companions- Little Egret and Grey Heron. The morning excursion provided views of two Grass snake and a Bank Vole was seen on both. A Common Whitethroat, Reed Warbler and a few Chiffchaff were noted in the hedges this afternoon and a Whinchat was seen.

Rushy Hide

Garganey, 36 Teal, 3 Green Sandpiper, 6 Snipe, 10 Lapwing and Black-tailed Godwit on the lower pond early morning.

Tack Piece

97 Teal and a Lapwing were briefly put up by a juvenile Marsh Harrier early morning.

Willow Hide

Very busy, 20+ Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Common Whitethroat, 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Treecreeper, Goldcrest and flock of tits including 6 Long-tailed in the scrub near the hide.

Knott Hide

Green Sandpiper and a small flock of Teal.

Holden Tower

Up to 11 Crane and 300+ Greylag, a few Yellow Wagtails amongst the cattle, Peregrine and 15 Curlew on the Dumbles.

South Lake

93 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Pied Wagtail, 24 Ruff, 23 Redshank, Spotted Redshank, 6 Snipe (pictured), 61 Teal, Garganey, 53 Lapwing, 19 Shoveler, Kingfisher, 40 Tufted Duck and a Pochard. Juvenile Great Crested Grebe on the deep lake.

270 Teal, 40 Shoveler, 10 Gadwall, Buzzard and two Reed Warbler. Three Whinchat from the Zeiss Hide.

Bottom New Piece

30 Teal.
